The grapes that grow on this land produce a very elegant wine of great complexity and elegance due to the vineyard’s particular position, unique microclimate and the composition of its soil (marly limestone and siliceous limestone representing the Alberese era, with lithoid components dating from the same period). Altesino has given an extra push to Brunello through the introduction of the concept of the Cru. Montosoli is a five hectare vineyard situated to the northeast of Montalcino at an altitude of 350-400 metres. The grapes from this vineyard were fermented and aged separately for the first time after the 1975 harvest.
